Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Cusco (Monday)
We'll meet you at the airport in Cusco upon your arrival and take you to your hotel. In the hotel you'll receive a tour briefing and complementary coca leaf tea which is excellent to relieve the effects of the altitude. We recommend that you settle in and take a short rest prior to lunch. In the afternoon we will take a private Tour of the City of Cusco which includes a visit to the main Plaza de Armas, Temple of the Sun and nearby Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenko and Tambomachay.

Tour Includes:
Airport reception and transfer to hotel in Cusco. Private tour of City of Cusco including English-speaking guide, taxi or minibus. Comfortable hotel accommodation (3 star) with private bathroom in Cusco centrally located.

Day 2: The Sacred Valley of the Incas & evening train to Aguas Calientes (Tuesday)
Today we will take a full day private excursion to visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Departing from your hotel at about 8:00am we'll take a minibus or taxi out to the picturesque traditional Indian market at Pisac. On markets days locals from the small Quechua communities in the mountains surrounding Pisac come down to the village square to sell and trade their produce. This market has remained unchanged for hundreds of years and the women still wear their traditional colourful costumes and hats. In addition to the fruit and vegetable market, a much larger, and just as colourful, handicraft market also takes place selling locally made items such as pottery, hand-painted ceramic beads, antiques and bright weavings and ponchos as well as soft alpaca sweaters. We'll also visit the Inca ruins at Pisac. A buffet lunch is included in the town of Urubamba. In the afternoon we'll take a guided tour of the spectacular Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo. We will then take an evening train for the 90 minute journey to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night.

Tour Includes:
Breakfast, private tour of Sacred Valley of the Incas including English-speaking guide, taxi or minibus. Buffet lunch at Urubamba. Train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. Comfortable hotel accommodation with private bathroom in Aguas Calientes.

Day 3: Full day Tour of Machu Picchu, Return to Cusco (Wednesday)

The best way to see Machu Picchu is first thing in the morning at sunrise before the majority of other visitors arrive by train. We'll take one of the first buses up the Machu Picchu leaving Aguas Calientes at about 05:30am. The spectacular bus ride takes about 20 minutes. We'll climb up to the Caretakers Hut where we can get the best view over the Machu Picchu archaeological complex (the typical postcard view). You'll have plenty of time to take photos before the guide commences his/her guided tour of the Lost City. You'll then have free time to further explore the ruins or climb Huayna Picchu - the mountain that overlooks the ruins. By about 1pm you'll probably be ready to leave the ruins and take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch. We'll take the train back to Cusco in the evening.

Tour Includes:
Return bus trip from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. Guided tour in English of Machu Picchu. Train from Aguas Calientes to Cusco. Transfer from the train station to your hotel. Comfortable hotel accommodation (3 star) with private bathroom in Cusco centrally located.

Day 4: Cultural visit to Chinchero in the morning, walking tour of Cusco in the afternoon (Thursday)

We'll take a short ride out to the village of Chinchero in the morning to visit the beautiful church and Inca ruins. We'll also visit a small group of local weavers to learn the art of dying and spinning wool and making colourful hand made textiles. After lunch we'll take a walking tour of Cusco including a visit to the Cathedral and artists district of San Blas.

Tour Includes:
Half day guided tour to Chinchero and local weaving cooperative, half day guided tour of Cusco. Comfortable hotel accommodation (3 star) with private bathroom in Cusco centrally located.
